OJK mencatat kinerja outstanding pembiayaan fintech peer to peer (P2P) lending atau pinjaman online pada Mei 2023 sebesar Rp51,46 triliun atau tumbuh sebesar 28,11 persen yoy (April 2023: 30,64 persen).
Dari jumlah ini, sebesar 38,39 persen merupakan pembiayaan kepada pelaku Usaha Mikro, Kecil dan Menengah (UMKM) dengan penyaluran kepada UMKM perseorangan dan badan usaha masing-masing sebesar Rp15,63 triliun dan Rp4,13 triliun.
Dalam siaran pers pada Sabtu (8/7), disebutkan bahwa data outstanding pembiayaan tersebut adalah nilai pokok pinjaman dari masyarakat yang masih beredar melalui pinjaman online dimana jumlahnya masih bisa naik ataupun turun serta bukan angka pinjaman yang bermasalah.
Untuk angka pinjaman yang bermasalah, di industri fintech P2P lending atau pinjaman online disebut Tingkat Wanprestasi 90 hari atau TWP90. Angka ini adalah ukuran tingkat wanprestasi atau kelalaian penyelesaian kewajiban yang ada pada perjanjian pinjaman di atas 90 hari sejak tanggal jatuh tempo.
Batas angka waspada atau threshold yang dipakai OJK sebagai acuan pengawasan dari TWP90 adalah 5 persen. Hingga Mei 2023, TWP90 sedikit meningkat namun tetap terjaga di bawah threshold menjadi 3,36 persen (April 2023: 2,82 persen).
Tingginya pertumbuhan pembiayaan pinjaman online ini menunjukkan fungsi intermediasi yang berjalan dan tingginya kebutuhan masyarakat dan pelaku UMKM akan akses keuangan yang lebih mudah serta cepat dibandingkan melalui perbankan atau perusahaan pembiayaan.
OJK juga terus memberikan edukasi kepada masyarakat melalui berbagai instrumen komunikasi untuk memanfaatkan pinjaman online ini secara bijak seperti untuk kebutuhan yang produktif dan bukan untuk kepentingan konsumtif.
Masyarakat juga diminta untuk memilih pinjaman online yang sudah berizin OJK yaitu sebanyak 102 perusahaan dan tidak menggunakan pinjaman online yang ilegal karena hanya akan banyak merugikan masyarakat.
