Saat ini, bisnis ikan cupang tengah naik daun. Banyak orang memelihara ikan ini, mulai dari kalangan umum bahkan artis dan public figure. Menariknya lagi, ada orang yang rela membelinya dengan harga jutaan per ekor. Tentu saja kondisi ini mendatangkan pundi-pundi bagi orang yang terjun dalam dunia “percupangan”. Ersan Hartoni salah satunya.
Sabtu (13/03), Travel2Lampung berkunjung ke Qabeel Betta Fish, nama peternakan ikan cupang yang berada di rumahnya. Pria berusia 48 tahun ini telah menjalankan usahanya selama lebih dari satu tahun. Semua berawal saat ia berniat membeli empat ekor ikan cupang. Saat itu, Ersan kaget karena harganya lumayan mahal.
“Coba saya tanya harga, ternyata kisaran dua ratus lima puluh ribu lebih. Kepikiran buat saya, kenapa gak coba ternak ikan cupang aja. Belajar benar-benar mulai dari nol. Namun, saya terkendala dengan lokasi, karena pekarangan rumah saya yang perumahan ini tidak terlalu luas dan terbatas. Akhirnya saya pikirin. Udahlah, dengan lahan terbatas ini, saya coba untuk menghasilkan sesuatu yang lumayan,” kata Ersan mengingat masa ia memulai usahanya.
Pria yang akrab dipanggil Om Ratu ini memelihara banyak sekali ikan cupang. Namun, ia lebih fokus membudidayakan jenis Avatar. Sedangkan, yang lain hanyalah untuk sambilan. Meski tidak semewah breeder cupang pada umumnya, Qabeel Betta Fish memberikan hasil lebih dari cukup untuk memenuhi kebutuhan sehari-hari keluarganya.
Ersan menjual ikan cupang di facebook, instagram dan terkadang juga melalui jasa lelang. Ia memasang harga mulai dari Rp50.000-an hingga juta-an. Pembeli biasanya datang dari berbagai daerah di Pulau Sumatera dan Jawa.
Berkaitan dengan situsi terkini, Ersan memberikan tanggapan dengan sedikit analisa. Menurutnya, sebelum pandemi, bisnis ikan cupang agak sedikit sulit. Saat ini, malah semakin bagus. Hal ini disebabkan karena kebanyakan orang lebih sering di rumah. Sehingga, keinginan untuk memelihara ikan cupang jadi meningkat.
“Kalau harapan saya, khususnya untuk di Lampung Tengah, jika memang harga ikan cupang lagi tinggi, bagus seperti ini. Daripada nganggur, buat teman-teman, cobalah untuk ternak ikan cupang. Sulit, ya gak terlalu sulit. Walaupun tidak mudah juga. Tapi mudah-mudahanlah bisa menghasilkan sesuatu,” kata Ersan diakhir wawancara.(Rid/E1)
